Greetings in Christ,
This weekend, the Church gives us the call of Abram and the Transfiguration of our Lord on Mount Tabor. In Lent, the first reading brings us through the high points of salvation history. Last week, we had the creation story. This week, we have the call of Abram, and next week, we will hear Moses providing the Israelites with water from a rock as they complained that they were thirsty. On the fourth Sunday of Lent, we will hear about the prophet Samuel anointing David as king.

Christ in the Movies: I will reflect on a second movie, The Truman Show (1998), for our Christ in the Movies series. This is a very fascinating movie where Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey) is an ordinary man who gradually discovers his entire life, including his hometown of Seahaven, his friends, and his family, is a massive reality television show broadcast 24/7 to the world.
The director character, Christof, orchestrates Truman’s world in a way he believes will keep him happy. Yet Turman longs for so much more: authentic human connection, beauty, adventure, and unconditional love. These deeper desires move him beyond the limits Christof has created. The talk on The Truman Show will be held on Thursday, March 5, at 10:00 am and 7:30 pm.

Stations and Soup Supper: We will have Stations of the Cross this evening (Friday), during Lent at 5:30 pm. A soup supper will follow.

Sunday 5:00 pm Mass: Our next Sunday 5:00 pm Mass is this Sunday, March 1. We are blessed to have Teresa Shackelford sharing her beautiful singing voice and musical gifts with us at this liturgy.
Men's Connect: The evening of Thursday, March 5th, at 6:00 pm, the Men’s Group of St. Therese Parish will be having their next Men’s Connect Meeting.
- Jim Campbell will be presenting. His talk is titled “Walking Like a Colossus: The Catholic Call to Greatness of Soul.”
- Current Men’s Group members are encouraged to bring a guest. All men of the parish are warmly invited.
- A light dinner will be available at 6:15. The presentation will start at 6:45, and the meeting is expected to close by 7:30.
Stations and Fish Frys with BINGO on March 6: We have our first fish fry and BINGO on Friday, March 6. Stations of the Cross are at 5:30 pm, and the fish fry will follow at 6:00 pm, along with Bingo. You may dine in or take out. Check out the following link for more details.
Winter Fun: We will be celebrating Winter Fun on Thursday, March 12, as a time to come together and enjoy one another’s company. We will begin with Mass at 4:00 pm, followed by dinner in the Community Room. After dinner, our Families United in Faith Ministry will host a variety of fun activities for everyone to enjoy. There is no cost for the event, and all St. Therese families are welcome to join us!
Easter Flowers: As a memorial for a loved one, these spring plants will decorate our church throughout the Easter Season. Help adorn our church for Easter. Donations will be taken after Masses starting next weekend, March 7 & 8. You may also donate using the order blank in the flyer in the bulletin or by using the link below through March 25.
Our 9th Annual St. John’s Men’s Retreat: A few weeks ago, we held our 9th annual St. John’s Men’s Retreat — and what a grace-filled weekend it was. This year, we welcomed a record number of participants, with 25 men taking time away to pray, reflect, and grow together in faith.
One of the most memorable moments came early Saturday morning, when the group made a 7 am walk across the lake to the chapel.
It was a beautiful witness to the strength of our parish community and the desire so many have to deepen their relationship with the Lord. We are grateful for every man who joined us and for all who helped make the retreat possible

Join Us in Praying the Rosary: You are invited to gather with us on Thursdays at 10 am by the fireplace to pray the Rosary together. It’s a peaceful way to pause, reflect, and lift our intentions as a community.

The St. Therese Parish Meal Pack Save the Date: Mark your calendars for March 17-18. This year, our goal is to pack more than 132,192 meals.
Extreme Faith Camp Prayer Team Application Now Open! High school leaders play a vital role at Extreme Faith Camp, helping middle school youth encounter the love of Jesus Christ while also growing in their own faith. One of the most meaningful ways to serve is through the Prayer Team, which supports the spiritual heart of camp by praying and interceding throughout the week and assisting behind the scenes with set-up for Mass, evening sessions, and prayer experiences. Prayer Team leaders also receive intentional formation through talks, small groups, and mentorship, and many students share that their Prayer Team year was one of the most impactful parts of their Extreme Faith Camp experience. For students hoping to serve on the Extreme Team in the future, Prayer Team is an important first step and a foundational prerequisite for that leadership role.
