June 19, 2026
Greetings in Christ,
This weekend, the Church gives us some delightful readings that give us spiritual nourishment. In our first reading, the prophet Jeremiah feels trapped and cries out to God for help. Jeremiah served the Lord as His prophet for over 40 years! At times, he felt isolated, mistreated, and crushed. Whenever he wanted to abandon ship, God’s Word burned within Jeremiah to give him encouragement and strength to move forward.
Father’s Day Blessing: May God our Father pour out His grace upon all fathers—those who guide us today with love and strength, and those who have gone before us into His eternal embrace—so that the living may be blessed with wisdom, courage, and tender hearts, and the departed may rest in the peace of Christ, their love continuing to shape us from heaven; and through the intercession of St. Joseph, may every father and father‑figure be upheld, comforted, and renewed in the noble vocation God has entrusted to them.
Capital Campaign Planning Study: Our planning study is now complete!
Steier Group will provide a full report to the church and school leadership at the end of June. Please pray for the success of the campaign and that God’s will be done! Thank you for your generosity to St. Therese!
Moonshot: Missed the Boat Theatre does a nice job of putting on plays with humorous Catholic themes. This year, the theater is putting on a play called Moonshot about a man named Melvin who is risk-averse. With a life-altering diagnosis, will Melvin take some chances on things like asking out a girl, reconnecting with old friends, or even going to the moon? The play runs from June 18-27 at the Helene Houle Auditorium at St. Agnes Catholic School in St. Paul. Use code PARISH for $5 off your ticket!
Sunday 5:00 pm Mass: We will have our weekly Mass at 5:00 pm this Sunday, June 21. We are blessed to have Teresa Shackelford with her beautiful singing voice and musical gifts with us at this liturgy. Please note that with Fr. Maloney’s assignment at St. Therese ending on June 30th, we will not have the Sunday 5:00 pm Mass in July or August. We will reevaluate how often we can offer this Mass later this summer.
Vacation Bible School (VBS): St. Therese’s annual Vacation Bible School is coming up soon, during the week of June 22-26. Over 100 little ones in grades K – 4 will gather to learn about this year’s theme, “Verso l ’alto” (“To the Heights!”). This was the motto of the newly canonized St. Pier Giorgio Frassati, an avid mountain climber and even more fervent evangelist, who encouraged his friends and neighbors to strive to achieve great things for God. Through different rotations, including Scripture, Music, Crafts, Activities, and Prayer, our youth will learn about key aspects of Pier Giorgio’s spirituality (including a love for the Eucharist, dedication to the poor, and love for our Blessed Mother) and be inspired to strive to do great things in the service of God. Please pray for our campers, teen leaders, and adult volunteers!
Annual Golf Outing Silent Auction: Monday is our Annual St. Therese Golf Tournament at Deer Run. In addition to the golfing, there is a silent auction that anyone can bid in, even if you aren't able to make it to the event. Bidding is now open, and closes on Monday! Check it out below:
Father Maloney and Franciscan Clarist Superior General: We are very blessed that the Mother General, Sr. Litty (who oversees the entire congregation), and General Councilor, Sr. Jyothis, will be here in Minnesota to visit their Religious Sisters. They will be with us for a few weeks—checking in with their sisters, praying with them, and taking time to learn more about our parish and the many ways our sisters bless us here at St. Therese.
We will also say a heartfelt goodbye to Fr. Maloney, in gratitude for his time and ministry at St. Therese. We wish him every blessing and look forward to seeing him again, as he may help us out from time to time.
We will host a brunch on Sunday, June 28, after the 10:00 am Mass to honor our visiting sisters and to thank God for their presence among us, as well as to express our appreciation for Fr. Maloney.
Garden Blessing: We were given a beautiful opportunity to bless our food garden, a place where God’s abundance becomes nourishment for those in need. This garden continues to offer not only fresh, healthy food but also hope and dignity to the community it serves.
May God’s blessings overflow to the volunteers who so generously share their time, their gifts, and their hearts in this ministry. May this garden remain a place of growth, compassion, and blessing for all who are touched by it.
Little Flower Chapel Update: Boyer construction workers have made great progress in our chapel this past couple of weeks. Last week, the stained-glass windows began to be removed so that they could be repaired where necessary and reframed. Once the stained-glass window work is complete, new tile will go in that will be quite beautiful! We are also looking at adding sound absorption panels and lighting for the new Stations of the Cross.
Paver engraving orders are now open: Make a lasting memorial for your family or a loved one! Pavers are $150 for the first paver and $125 for each additional.
