Greetings in Christ,
After a few weeks of meditating on Jesus’ parables in Matthew 13, the Church gives us our Lord’s miracle of the feeding of the 5,000 with the small lunch of five loaves and two fish. It is a great reminder of how good Jesus is. He takes whatever we can give Him, oftentimes very little, and He can do miraculous things with it. According to tradition, the miracle took place at what is known as Tabgha, which is a peaceful area on the northwest shore of the Sea of Galilee. The Church of the Multiplication marks the spot, and there is a famous mosaic of five loaves and two fish in front of the altar.
St. Ignatius of Loyola: Today, the Church celebrates St. Ignatius of Loyola, most famous for founding the Society of Jesus or the Jesuits. St. Ignatius was a Spanish soldier who experienced a major conversion and eventually became a priest. He is also famous for his Spiritual Exercises, which are a guide for prayer and discernment. St. Ignatius died on July 31, 1556, but his influence has certainly been felt throughout the Church for many centuries. Below is a nice video by Bishop Barron on St. Ignatius.
Chapel Update: Workers with Boyer Construction are doing a great job of replacing the rotting frames around the windows in our chapel. They are making great progress as they wrap our windows in a way that will last for generations to come. The changes will also help save energy to maintain the heating and cooling in the winter and summer. Our tile worker is doing a great job of putting in our new flooring. Our plan is that we can reopen our chapel in September, and after repairing our stained-glass windows, they will be reinstalled in October.
Capital Campaign Update: We are nearly complete with the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on the various projects for our upcoming campaign. We are also nearly complete with the case statement for the campaign. We will be training volunteers in August who will reach out to parishioners during the campaign and encourage them to participate to help build up our beloved parish. If you would, please pray for the capital campaign!
REBOOT A Life‑Changing Event: REBOOT, a powerful evening of renewal with internationally acclaimed Catholic speaker Chris Stefanick, is coming right here to St. Therese. This dynamic experience is designed to help you rediscover and deepen your faith in a fresh, practical, and inspiring way. Please see the information below for details on how to participate. We hope you’ll join us for this exceptional opportunity.
Matt Fradd: A good conversion story provides great inspiration. A parishioner sent me an interview that Australian Catholic Matt Fradd did with Fr. Scott-Vincent Borba. Fr. Scott-Vincent is a newly ordained priest with the Diocese of Fresno, CA, who walked away from a multi-billion-dollar beauty empire and luxury lifestyle to give his wealth to charity, enter the seminary, and dedicate his life to God. In the interview, Fr. Scott-Vincent shares his story and extraordinary love for God.
Missionary Appeal: Each year, the archdiocese asks every parish to welcome a missionary who shares about their ministry or diocese and invites the community’s support. This year, Fr. Daniel Mallam will be joining us at St. Therese the weekend of August 8–9.
Fr. Daniel is a Nigerian priest currently studying in Rhode Island, and he will be making an appeal on behalf of the Diocese of Kafanchan in Nigeria. A second collection will be taken up for this appeal.
If you choose to contribute, please make checks payable to Church of St. Therese and write
“Mission” on the memo line. Thank you for your generosity and prayerful support.
Adoration: Currently, we are seeking a bit more assistance during the following times:
- Tuesday, 3–4 pm
- Wednesday, 12–1 pm
- Wednesday, 1-2 pm
Please join us as we recite the Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy every Thursday at 3 pm during Adoration.
For more information, call Geri at 952-473-4422 or Marilyn Olson at 952-474-4344.
Come and rest in the loving presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. In the quiet of Adoration, He receives every burden, every hope, and every whispered prayer. This is sacred time to simply be with the Lord — to let His peace settle your heart, to place your worries before Him, and to allow His gentle love to renew your spirit.
The August focus for Reclaiming Sundays is Service: Megan Plum, mother of six and executive director of Guiding Star Wakota, who is one of our Giving Tree partners, shares how prayer and service go hand-in-hand and help to keep the Lord’s Day holy. Let’s reclaim Sundays for the Lord and our families.

The World Mission Rosary Project: Be part of a nationwide effort to create
75,000 rosaries for the beatification Mass of Archbishop Fulton SheenThe introduction of the World Mission Rosary was a concrete way to inspire Catholics to live out their baptismal call of mission through prayer to Our Lady, Queen of Apostles, for the success of the Church’s missionary efforts across the world.
Whether you make 100 or 1,000, every rosary becomes part of something larger. Each one will be blessed before the Beatification and will continue to be prayed long after the day is over.
World Mission Rosaries need to be mailed or dropped off by Sept. 1 to the Archdiocesan Catholic Center
777 Forest Street
St. Paul, MN
